PLEASE NOTE

NOTHWITHSTANDING IT'S NEARLY IRRESISTABLE CHARM...AMSTERDAM is no dreamy village in the middle of an enchanted forest, and neighter a kind of sleepy suburbia, but the busy - YOUNG - capital of The Netherlands.

If you are A LIGHT SLEEPER, please keep this in mind, if you would like to reserve a CANAL VIEW ROOM,which is also a "street view room":
Your eyes will be absolutely pleased of what you get to see at daytime, your ears might have some doubts at night, especially if you are struggling with a jetlag...

Although the hotel is on a quiet street,YOU CANNOT SLEEP WITH OPEN WINDOWS (as in no big city!) - certainly not on hot weekends in the summer. Most probably you did not expect this anyway...

...with original 18th century LOUIS XV Rococo Walnut Fauteuils - signed by ROUARD - from Paris (1750).

Although these 2 authentic historic fauteuils from CHRISTIE'S (not the usual antique STYLE furniture - modern remakes! - of the better 4 & 5 star hotels) are by no means for sale,it might be interesting for our guests to come to know the real value of these precious objects (€ 5980.-/±$ 9700.-),which they get (for a limited time) in exchange of their good money. We are convinced,a more excellent value for money is hardly conceivable in any other hotel.

It is true, not all of our guests are necessarily connaisseurs of real antiques and do not expect such extravagant items - certainly not at such a more than reasonable rate...

Most of us ordinary mortals neither had ever the opportunity to sit on such a chair from Paris, which breathes the atmosphere of 260 years of European history, nor at a table which was created for the adventurous and brave Dutch (or at least their somewhat saturated heirs...) who sailed and conquered the Seven Seas, to make a fortune and build one of the most beautiful cities on earth...with its famous canal belt.
As you probably know,in a museum it is not even allowed to touch such objects.

Please note:

The beautiful and VERY VULNERABLE French fabric of the 2 fauteuils, which can be seen on this photo, has been recently replaced - no photo yet - by another beautiful (and equally valuable) fabric from France, due to an unfortunate accident...
